Human Resources Director

Pay: $95,000-$100,000 Annually
Schedule: Monday-Friday 

About the Employer-

A respected nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead and elevate its people operations function. This newly created leadership role offers the opportunity to shape organizational culture, drive employee engagement, and develop HR strategies that support a mission-driven workforce.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Human Resources will serve as a trusted advisor to organizational leaders while overseeing all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, compensation, benefits, performance management, and workforce planning.

This position is ideal for an HR leader who enjoys balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on execution and is passionate about creating an inclusive, supportive workplace where employees can thrive. Essential Job Duties-

HR Leadership & Strategy

• Lead the organization's human resources function across multiple locations.
• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and workforce needs.
• Partner with executive leadership to support culture, engagement, retention, and workforce planning initiatives.
• Track and analyze HR metrics including turnover, recruitment effectiveness, employee engagement, and leave trends.
• Recommend process improvements and organizational best practices based on workforce data and employee feedback.

Talent Management & Employee Relations

• Serve as the primary resource for employee relations matters, providing guidance to managers and employees on complex workplace situations.
• Coach leaders on performance management, employee development, conflict resolution, and organizational policies.
• Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding, and employee lifecycle processes.
• Oversee performance management programs, including goal setting, feedback, reviews, and career development initiatives.
• Support investigations, employee concerns, and corrective action processes while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Employee Experience & Organizational Development

• Develop and enhance employee engagement, recognition, learning, and retention programs.
• Lead employee feedback initiatives and translate insights into actionable organizational improvements.
• Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that supports collaboration, growth, and employee well-being.

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance

• Manage compensation and benefits programs, including salary structures, market reviews, and annual benefits administration.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
• Oversee leaves of absence, accommodations, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and workplace safety programs.
• Manage employee handbook updates, HR policies, personnel records, HRIS systems, and employment documentation.
• Partner with payroll and finance teams to support accurate workforce planning and personnel administration.

Requirements-

Required

• 8+ years of progressive human resources experience.
• 3+ years of HR leadership, management, or business partner experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong employee relations experience, including coaching and advising leaders on performance management and workplace issues.
• Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, compliance, leaves of absence, accommodations, compensation, benefits administration, and HR best practices.
• Experience using HR systems, workforce data, and reporting to support business decisions.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Preferred

• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
• Experience leading organizational culture, engagement, and development initiatives.
• Prior experience supervising and developing HR staff.
• Experience within nonprofit, healthcare, social services, or mission-driven organizations.
