Instructional Resources Analyst (Administrative Analyst/Specialist Exempt I) Job no: 561338 Work type: Staff Location: San Diego Categories: Unit 9 - CSUEU - Technical Support Services, Administrative, Probationary, Full Time, Telecommute eligible (work onsite as scheduled and/or as requested and telecommute as scheduled) Position Description Position Summary The College of Arts and Letters is seeking an Instructional Resources Analyst who will play a central role in ensuring that departments have the faculty, funding, and administrative support needed to deliver an exceptional academic experience. Working in the Dean’s Office, this position connects people, data, policy, and resources to help the College staff its courses, administer its instructional budget, and keep complex faculty and academic student employment processes moving forward. The Instructional Resources Analyst serves as a knowledgeable and trusted resource to departments, helping staff navigate complex requirements, resolve appointment and compensation issues, analyze workload and resource data, and improve processes across the College. The position offers the opportunity to develop broad expertise in academic operations, collaborate with partners throughout the university, and see the direct impact of their work on faculty, departments, and students. Key Responsibilities Support University Instructional Operations: Coordinate the faculty appointment processes that help ensure courses are staffed accurately and on time. Review appointments, reappointments, compensation, and related documentation; anticipate potential issues; and work with departments and campus partners to resolve them. Transform Complex Data : Analyze instructional budgets, faculty workload, compensation, appointments, FTEF, headcount, and other resource data. Identify discrepancies and trends, develop projections, and provide information that supports college planning and resource decisions. Support Academic Student Employment : Coordinate employment processes for Teaching Associates, Graduate Assistants, and other academic student employees, helping departments navigate requirements, meet deadlines, and resolve processing issues. Serve as a Departmental Resource : Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements, university policies, and administrative requirements. Provide practical guidance and training to department staff and help translate complex requirements into workable solutions. Process Improvement and College Initiatives : Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen accuracy and consistency, develop helpful tools and guidance, and contribute to college-wide projects and initiatives. Position Information This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is approved for one day of telecommuting after an initial training period with onsite work in San Diego. Education and Experience Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Key Qualifications Minimum of three years of progressively responsible administrative experience involving analysis, interpretation, and application of policies and procedures. Experience in academic personnel, faculty affairs, human resources, budget administration, or a related administrative area. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including the ability to use Excel to analyze, reconcile, and maintain complex financial, workload, and personnel data. Experience administering or supporting faculty and academic student employee appointment processes in a higher education environment. Experience with faculty workload, compensation, instructional resources, or academic personnel processes. Experience analyzing and reconciling budgets, financial information, or resource data and developing projections or reports. Experience interpreting and applying collective bargaining agreements, policies, procedures, or other complex administrative requirements. Experience using administrative information systems and databases to manage, reconcile, and analyze personnel, appointment, workload, or financial data. Experience providing guidance or training to others regarding policies, procedures, systems, or administrative processes. Compensation Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department’s budget and equity guidelines. Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($5,274). Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement. CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,274 – $7,684 per month (Step 1 – Step 20). Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
