Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will play an integral part in maintaining the accuracy and compliance of Waypoint Mutuals financial operations. Youll collaborate with the accounting supervisor and cross-functional teams on month-end close, regulatory filings, and ongoing financial processes. With hands-on exposure to systems and regulatory environments, this role also offers the opportunity to help optimize a newly implemented accounting system and contribute to process improvements as the organization continues to evolve.

Key responsibilities include:

• Executing month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
• Managing accounting communications and monitoring shared Outlook inbox workflows
• Calculating and processing policy deposit adjustments and agent commissions
• Preparing quarterly and annual regulatory insurance filings across multiple jurisdictions; city, county, state, and federal
• Supporting compliance efforts related to statutory accounting, investments, and held deposit accounts
• Assisting with financial statement audits and responding to external auditor requests
• Collaborating across functions to research and resolve discrepancies and improve processes
• Providing backup support for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and policy audit functions
• Maintaining organized financial records in accordance with company policy
• Supporting and working within the newly implemented Flexi Financial accounting system, helping refine workflows and improve efficiency

Who You Are

You are someone who values precision, takes ownership of your work, and approaches accounting with both discipline and curiosity. Youre comfortable working independently but also enjoy being part of a collaborative, supportive team.

• 12 years of experience in general ledger accounting or month-end close processes
• Familiarity with accounting systems (experience with Flexi Financial is a plus)
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to review your own work for accuracy
• Exposure to statutory or insurance accounting is a plus
• Experience or interest in investment accounting is helpful but not required
• A proactive, improvement-oriented mindset with interest in refining processes and systems
• A service-oriented approach and willingness to support team needs across functions
