Real Estate Accountant

Real Estate AccountantExpanding real estate investment and lending institution, is seeking a strong Real Estate Accountant. This individual will assist with cash management, accounts receivable, loans and property accounting for a portfolio of commercial and mixed-used properties. This role also offers close mentorship from a great mentor and significant potential for growth in our highly collaborative environment.Responsibilities:Oversee accounting duties for commercial and mixed-use propertiesAssist in maintaining loan system and database for all loansPrepare financial statements for assigned portfoliosAnalyze/prepare annual CAM reconciliationsAnalyze the general ledger for each property and prepare monthly journal entriesCalculate accruals and adjustmentsMaintain detailed workpaper files on a monthly basis for each investmentReview results of operations and provide detailed explanations of variancesReview invoices to ensure correct account coding and expense allocationsPrepare reconciliations of all cash accounts, reserves and escrowsMonitor cash balances and request capital funding or distributions, as neededMaintain fixed asset and depreciation schedulesCalculate real estate tax and operating expense escalationsInteract with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managersAssist in the resolution of tenant billing inquiries with accounts receivable and legal departmentsCompile financial information for analysts during debt refinances and/or sales of propertiesPrepare annual budget and reforecastPrepare real estate tax filingsInteract with various audit firms for annual audits and tax return preparationRequirements:Bachelor's Degree in AccountingBackground in public accounting or private industry within the real estate industryKnowledge of Yardi, MRI, Nortridge or similar software is preferredStrong organizational and communication skillsSelf-starter with strong ability to organize and prioritizeStrong Microsoft Excel capabilitiesDetail-oriented, proactive team player who can also work independentlyCompensation:Salary competitive and commensurate with experience.
