Registered Nurse - Forensic/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner

Location: Columbus, Ohio 43213 Employment Details Employment Type: Part Time Shift: Rotating Shift Position Title RN, Registered Nurse – Forensic/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Description The Forensic RN, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Forensic RN functions in the spirit of teamwork and is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System. Responsibilities Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care Follows policies, procedures, and protocols for the program, including signing a contract to provide Forensic Nurse commitment Collects a detailed history of the forensic assault and assesses injuries Conducts and documents a forensic examination Collaborates with the ED physician, social worker, advocates, ED nurse and law enforcement of the jurisdiction of the assault Provides appropriate community referral for the patient who has experienced intentional violence according to the needs of the patient Follows up with the patient after discharge to assure the needs of the patient have been met and to determine if additional referrals are needed for ongoing medical or psychological care Testifies in court as summoned Minimum Qualifications Graduate from a school of nursing Successful completion of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training and additional didactic and clinical hours related to domestic and other intentional violence related to the medico‑legal examination Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio Effective communication skills Benefits Competitive compensation and benefits packages including medical, dental, and vision with coverage starting on day one Retirement savings account with employer match starting on day one Generous paid time off programs Employee recognition programs Tuition/professional development reimbursement starting on day one Relocation assistance (geographic and position restrictions apply) RN to BSN tuition 100% paid at Mount Carmel’s College of Nursing Employee Referral Rewards program Opportunity to join Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Colleague Resource Groups Equal Opportunity Employment We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
