Recovery Support Staff

The Recovery Support Staff (RSS) plays a vital role in providing direct care and support to individuals receiving behavioral health services. Working under the supervision of licensed clinicians or healthcare professionals, the RSS assists in implementing treatment plans, promoting positive behavior management strategies, and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients in various behavioral health settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

? Supports and assists individuals in recovery from substance abuse, mental health issues, or other behavioral health challenges.

? Implements individualized treatment plans developed by licensed clinicians or behavioral health professionals.

? Assists clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and transportation to appointments or activities.

? Facilitates group therapy sessions, psychoeducational groups, and recreational activities to promote socialization, skill-building, and therapeutic engagement.

? Monitors and documents client behavior, progress, and responses to treatment interventions, and communicates observations to the treatment team.

? Implements behavior management techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and de-escalation methods to address challenging behaviors and ensure a safe environment for clients and staff.

? Provides support and guidance to clients in developing coping skills, problem-solving techniques, and relapse prevention strategies to promote recovery and resilience.

? Participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities to enhance clinical skills and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

? Maintains confidentiality of client information and adheres to ethical guidelines and professional standards of conduct in all interactions.

? Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

? High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field preferred.

? 2 - 3 years of experience working in behavioral health, mental health, or substance abuse treatment settings preferred.

? Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.

? Ability to establish rapport with clients, demonstrate empathy, and maintain professional boundaries.

? Knowledge of mental health disorders, substance abuse treatment principles, and evidence based therapeutic interventions.

? Ability to remain calm under pressure, effectively manage crisis situations, and implement de-escalation techniques.

? Basic computer skills and proficiency in documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

? Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet the needs of clients and the program.

? Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.

? Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other office equipment.

? Ability to lift and carry materials for admissions events and presentations.

? Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
