Accounting Manager

Assistant Director Of FinanceWe are in search of a diverse leader for the role of Assistant Director of Finance. This position is responsible for promoting and adhering to GAAP compliance and alignment with the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts. It is crucial this role position themselves as the go-to person in the hotel for support, coaching and education on company accounting processes, procedures and practices. The Assistant Director of Finance reports to the Director of Finance, collaborates closely with other managers and the Aparium Finance team in achieving financially sound and strategic business decisions.What You Will DoLead the hotel's accounting and finance procedures, practices and policies, ensuring all accounting responsibilities and deadlines are completed accurately and on timeOversee month-end processing, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections and financial reconciliationsReconcile vendor statements, process weekly payables and complete daily invoice postingSupervise billing and collection efforts, evaluate creditworthiness for guest and client billing and provide timely resolution to guest account inquiriesResolve credit card disputes and chargebacks in a timely mannerCount daily deposits, coordinate bank service pickups and maintain appropriate cash on hand while enforcing cash-handling policies and proceduresEnsure payroll is processed accurately and on time, conduct regular payroll audits and maintain established payroll policies and proceduresCollaborate with People + Culture on payroll, benefits and associate matters, and serve as the hotel's liaison with the payroll vendor to resolve issues and concernsServe as a financial resource for hotel leaders and assist other departments with accounting and finance questionsParticipate in interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and motivating associates while creating an environment that develops future talentReinforce the company's Art + Science ideologies by modeling translocal hospitality, intuitive service and collaborationHelp create a strong sense of belonging by upholding the company's Respectful Workplace, diversity, equity and inclusion valuesModel an open-door leadership approach, positive work ethic, sound business practices and active employee engagementApply your accounting and finance leadership experience to understand and support the responsibilities of the team, with hotel accounting experience and knowledge of the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts preferredWork a flexible schedule when month-end responsibilities or other business needs require additional attentionWork comfortably in a dog-friendly environmentHow You LeadOperate in a highly analytical fashion in thought and recommendations; although never acting like the smartest person in the room; continually seeking out the factsDemonstrate confidence to express a point of view tempered with humility to ensure it's not driven by egoEngage others in general conversation to build rapport quickly and demonstrate an ability to adapt communication and presentation tactics to engage a wide range of audiencesApproach fact-finding and discovery missions in a collaborative effort; valuing input and experiences of others that creates additional insight to uncover deeper issues that need to be addressed or removedDemonstrate a passion to drive results within themselves and others; influencing others to take direction and execute on the strategyBe comfortable in being a "general" in identifying strategic needs, yet can be a "soldier" to ensure the implementation of a strategic plan is implementedValue the importance of making decisions with integrity, maintaining confidentiality across internal workgroups and knowing how to use discretion when appropriate; understanding the difference between transparency and confidentiality.Position RequirementsA minimum of (2) two years of progressive accounting and finance management experience preferred; we like to see that you have worked yourself up the ranks, so you understand the responsibilities and tasks of your teamA bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Hospitality is preferred though not required if you have years of proven experienceHaving a background in hotel accounting would be great so you understand the intricacies and vernacular of hotel accounting, specifically AHLA Uniform System of AccountsWillingness to work a flexible schedule as sometimes "month-end" responsibilities and tasks need extra attention to ensure accuracyAbility to work in a dog-friendly work environmentWho You AreLike a MENSA member, you enjoy solving puzzles.
