Interrelated Resource Teacher (IRR) - Special Education

Woodward Mill Elementary is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Interrelated Resource (IRR) Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support for students with disabilities. This role focuses on helping students access the general education curriculum, achieve IEP goals, and develop the academic, social, and functional skills needed for success in school and beyond.

Qualifications

Licensure: Georgia certification in Special Education (or eligibility).

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a PSC-approved institution.

Experience: Prior teaching experience preferred, particularly with students with diverse learning needs.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of GCPS AKS curriculum and instructional best practices
• Understanding of IDEA, IEP development, and due process procedures
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide accommodations and modifications
• Experience using assessment data to drive instructional decisions
• Knowledge of inclusive practices and collaborative teaching models
• Skilled in working with general education teachers, administrators, families, and support staff
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to integrate technology to support student learning

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct and specially designed instruction aligned to AKS and IEP goals
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Develop and implement individualized supports to meet students’ academic and functional needs
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data
• Maintain compliant special education documentation and participate in eligibility, annual review, and reevaluation meetings
• Collaborate and consult with general education teachers to ensure students have access to the general education curriculum through appropriate accommodations, modifications, and instructional supports
• Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes student growth and independence
• Support students’ academic, social, emotional, and organizational skill development
• Assist with physical or medical needs of students as required
• Participate in professional learning and school-wide initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned
