About the Role

Our Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) for permanent positions in its Intensive Care Unit (ICU). ICU RNs provide care to patients with complex medical needs as part of the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs and recovery.
• Provide emergency response care and oversee life-support systems.
• Apply the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to coordinate outcome-focused patient care.
• Incorporate holistic nursing theory and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families through effective communication.
• Perform diagnostic tests and follow-up visits, and respond to medical emergencies.
• Maintain knowledge of current medical equipment and critical-care nursing techniques, including ventilators and IABP.
• Perform wound care for surgical sites and other wounds.
• Maintain accurate medical records and file required reports.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical quality, patient experience, nursing engagement, and care outcomes.
• Contribute to department goals.
• Comply with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, board of nursing requirements, patient safety practices, infection control, and established policies and procedures.
• Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program preferred.
• Active, valid RN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification required; AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network certifications accepted.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• At least 2 years of nursing experience required; ICU or PACU experience preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to the patient care model and the organization’s nursing vision and strategy.
• Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure.
