Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accounts Payable Associate is responsible for executing complex accounts payable activities, supporting month-end close, and serving as a key resource for process consistency, system administration, and issue resolution. This role partners cross-functionally to ensure accurate and timely financial operations while identifying opportunities for process improvement.ResponsibilitiesAccounting:Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and compliance with company policiesReview and approve employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to company travel and expense policies and proper documentationPerform and support account reconciliations, including vendor accounts and assigned GL accountsResponsible for month end close processesAssist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and reportingPerform Company Credit Card monthly reconciliationSupport Vendor set up and ACH confirmationSupport Payroll Processing cost center verificationSupport and cross train with members of Accounts Payable DepartmentReporting:Perform monthly reportingSupport operational reporting and analysis needs of department managersPrepare 1099 NEC and 1099 MiscMaintain and create reports as neededTreasury:Oversee and validate disbursementsSupport and create BMO MasterCard accounts, Corporate Credit Card programOperations:Provides recommendations to improve business and financial performanceActive team member on business improvement projectsDevelop procedures to improve financial practicesProvide on-going support via cross training functionsOther projects as assignedRequirementsEducation:Minimum Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration orMinimum 3 years in progressively responsible experience in accounting payableOther Requirements:Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely mannerAbility to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over sameAccountable for specific performanceExceptional attention to detail, meeting deadlines and providing a high-level of customer serviceConfidential, understands the ethical standards of accountingStrong system skills – experience with SAP, SAC, Microsoft CRM, and Concur preferredClear problem solving and investigative skills – support a lean environment, Six Sigma Certification, a plusProficiency in Microsoft Excel (including PowerPivot, pivot tables, Vlookup, VBA, Macros, etc.)Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a typical office environment with usually moderate noise levels and requires regular use of a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools or controls.
