Registered Nurse - Neurosurgical Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule-D/E/N Rotating Shift Schedule - Weekends, Holidays/On-Call/Callback/Charge per Unit Needs. Available for 36 or 48 hours per week.

The neurosurgical unit offers extraordinary opportunities to care for a diverse patient population. Work with multidisciplinary teams specialized in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular procedures, and epilepsy surgery. This is a mixed-acuity unit with both floor-level patients and an 8-bed high-acuity step-down unit for patients with complex needs requiring hemodynamic and neurological monitoring.

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and managing patients with high acuity neurological conditions.
• Performing Q1 neuro checks, handling EVDs, lumbar drains, and subdural drains.
• Administering 3% NS, Cardene drips, and managing arterial lines.
• Involvement in procedures such as carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coiling/clipping, DBS Insertion, and VP shunts.
• Providing seizure management and support in complex cases.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Two (2) years of nursing experience required.
• Current RN License (NY License ONLY).
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY).
• Telemetry experience required.
• ACLS Certification preferred (American Heart Association ONLY).
• NIHSS certification required.
• Experience in stepdown and/or PCU settings is mandatory.
