Business Analyst

Job Summary:
The Business Analyst will play a key role in a multi-year modernization initiative for a large state pension system, focusing on replacing legacy systems with a modern, Azure-hosted pension administration platform. This role involves engaging with business units and technical teams to analyze and document processes, gather and translate requirements, and support testing and quality assurance activities to ensure successful delivery of scalable, efficient, and user-friendly solutions. Responsibilities:
- Engage with business units to understand operational workflows, pain points, and improvement opportunities.
- Interface with technical teams to translate technical requirements into business needs and vice versa.
- Document current state processes using process maps, swimlane diagrams, and workflow charts.
- Facilitate discussions to define future state processes aligned with organizational goals.
- Translate business needs into detailed functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and Azure DevOps work items/user stories.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to refine and validate requirements.
- Develop test plans, test scripts, and testing instructions for functional and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Execute functional testing and coordinate UAT sessions with business stakeholders.
- Document defects, track resolution progress, and verify fixes.
- Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams to ensure alignment and shared understanding.
- Communicate project updates, risks, and issues clearly and proactively.
- Support change management activities including contributing to training materials, documentation, and user guidance.
- 5-7 years of experience in business analysis, process documentation, or related roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create clear process diagrams and workflow documentation.
- Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases.
- Familiarity with DevOps or similar work item management tools.
- Hands-on experience with functional testing and UAT coordination.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience with Azure cloud platforms and modern software development life cycles.
- Knowledge of pension administration systems or public sector IT modernization projects.
- Familiarity with process automation and document management solutions.
- Work may require occasional in-person attendance in Oklahoma City, OK for meetings.
- Travel expenses will not be reimbursed for contractors.
- All work products and deliverables belong exclusively to the organization.
- Work hours are typically 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with possible flexibility upon approval.
- Remote work is allowed with some on-site meeting requirements.
