Policy Analyst, Duke Margolis Institute for Health Policy (Hybrid: Washington DC or Durham NC) Location: Durham, NC, US 27710 Work Arrangement: Hybrid (On‑Site and Remote mix) Requisition Number: 270282 Regular or Temporary: Regular Preferred Location: Durham, NC (Washington, DC candidates may also be considered) Overview: The Robert J. Margolis, MD, Institute for Health Policy seeks a Policy Analyst to support projects focusing on coverage, pricing, and payment policy for medical products including drugs, cell and gene therapies, and medical devices. The role contributes to strategies for ensuring access to innovative medical products while balancing affordability and sustainability. Key Responsibilities: Conduct health‑policy focused background research and literature reviews. Draft summary documents, policy briefs, white papers, blog posts, peer‑reviewed publications, and other deliverables. Support planning and preparation for Institute events, public/private convenings, and other project activities. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data from diverse sources, make recommendations, and synthesize findings for various audiences. Coordinate and support public and expert convenings, manage logistics, and prepare briefing materials. Collaborate with senior researchers to develop draft presentations and policy briefs. Maintain liaison with project participants, stakeholders, and industry representatives. Identify content experts and stakeholder groups; conduct phone interviews and correspondence. Monitor developments in relevant content areas and notify colleagues of policy changes. Suggest project ideas, innovations, and workflow improvements. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in policy, public health, public administration, economics, science, engineering, law, or related field. Two (2) years of experience in policy/research/data analysis or a related position, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Desired Skills: Strong research and writing experience. Ability to synthesize content from broad sources and conduct policy research. Data analysis capabilities preferred. Excellent written communication; ability to transform complex information into accessible materials. Professional interaction with senior‑level policymakers, stakeholders, and organizations. Familiarity with current trends and regulations in relevant topic areas. Strong independent work ability and effective collaboration within a team. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with varied responsibilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and capacity to learn additional programs. Administrative, project coordination, and/or project management experience preferred. Training or experience in health policy, public policy, public health, science, or engineering preferred. Compensation: Annual base salary range USD $51,510.00 – $96,900.00.
