Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Empower educators and make a meaningful impact on students’ lives as a Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired supporting a district near Hastings, FL. This unique, part-time contract opportunity involves partnering closely with multiple schools throughout the district, guiding and building the expertise of school-based staff as they work with students who are blind or visually impaired.

This supportive itinerant role is designed to amplify the district’s direct service model by offering targeted, expert-level assistance and promoting effective instructional strategies. Work from anywhere, providing vital virtual support to staff and teachers, with a strong initial focus at the start of the school year and gradually tapering to encourage independence and confidence across the school community.

Key Qualifications:

• Florida Educator Certification required
• Experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or similar role
• Proficiency in braille instruction and assistive technology
• Ability to provide guidance across a variety of instructional settings and age groups
• Familiarity with virtual/remote teaching platforms preferred
• Must complete fingerprint clearance according to Florida school district policies (prior prints through the AHCA Clearinghouse may qualify)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with educators to enhance instructional access and promote consistent, inclusive practices
• Deliver ongoing support in braille, technology integration, and adaptation of materials
• Offer specialized coaching for staff serving students with complex needs
• Build staff capacity at the beginning of the academic year, gradually reducing support as teachers gain confidence
• Support multiple campuses as an itinerant, virtual consultant
