Analyst I

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-time appointment to the Analyst I classification in the Psychology Department. This position under the general direction and oversight of the Chief of Psychology or designee. This position is pending budgetary approval.


The Analyst I provides analytical and operational support to the Department of Psychology through data collection and analysis, regulatory compliance, and reporting. Additionally, the Analyst I serves a critical role by delivering reliable data and insights that support clinical services, quality assurance, and departmental operations. Key functions of this position include data collection and analysis of multiple aspects of departmental functioning. The Analyst I maintains and organizes psychological testing databases and provides reports as needed regarding psychological test usage and trends using data collected from psychological testing scoring programs and departmental monitoring processes. Areas of departmental functioning that require data collection and analysis include program evaluation and quality improvement, compliance with hospital policies and licensing regulations, ongoing suicide and violence risk assessment monitoring, and quality improvement monitoring of the department's continuing education program among others. The Analyst I prepares reports to analyze trends regarding compliance with required timelines for psychology work products, drafts and recommends operational and departmental policy changes based on identified metrics, and provides recommendations to the Senior Psychologist Supervisors and Chief of Psychology regarding work product tracking. This position also provides clerical and administrative support including answering incoming calls, managing the Department of Psychology front office, tracking and maintaining inventory of psychological testing equipment and scoring protocols, managing the storage of psychological assessment data, and managing electronic databases of psychological testing protocols using psychological assessment scoring programs.


This position requires the ability to learn and maintain proficiency using specialized office software including multiple psychological assessment scoring programs; to utilize office and operational equipment, including photocopiers, testing equipment, and scoring programs; and to create, maintain, and utilize spreadsheets and databases in Microsoft Excel, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, and other software programs to analyze data and create reports.

Working Conditions


Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Prior experience using psychological assessment scoring programs to score test protocols, maintain test inventory, and organize testing databases.
• Ability to analyze data trends in databases and create reports to monitor and track compliance and quality improvement.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of procurement process for psychological testing equipment including understanding of testing qualification levels and documentation needed to order tests at different qualification levels.
