Public Health Nurse Supervisor
Under the direction of the Public Health Communicable Disease Clinic Senior Manager, the Public Health Nurse Supervisor is responsible for directing, evaluating, and coordinating delivery of services in multiple program areas, and supervising coordinators or supervisors assigned to a program area. Supporting other offices and programs as needed in the event of an emergency, outbreak, or as needed. Supporting the Health Commissioner's vision for Public Health.
* Overseeing and supervising the nursing staff; developing and directing implementation plans, strategies, goals, and objectives for the department/program as directed by the Senior Manager or Office Director; determining work priorities and assigning who will complete tasks related to department/program services; reviewing and monitoring work to ensure compliance with requirements; providing leadership through training, coaching, discipline, accountability, evaluating performance, resolving work related conflicts, and serving as a liaison between staff and Senior Manager; writing and revising protocol for staff; conducting department/program meetings and reports out to Senior Manager or Office Director. * Providing direct nursing care by assessing patients, taking patient histories, and administering treatments and medications at the direction of the health care provider; documenting all patient information in the Electronic Medical Records System, and reporting all findings to the Health Care Provider; conducting patient follow up. * May be responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing, PH Communicable Disease Clinic Senior Manager, Medical Director, or other Supervisors in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of program needs and effectiveness/efficiency; developing and maintaining program Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs) as needed. * Ensuring records are kept confidential and are meeting department and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability ACT (HIPAA) standards * Evaluating department/program standards which ensure effective and quality health care services; maintaining Medicaid/Medicare certifications and regulatory compliance, as necessary. * Coordinating outreach activities with community partners to provide educational services and resources. * Overseeing financial activities for the department/program; and is responsible for assisting in the development of grant applications, department, and/or program budgets, approving spending such as travel, lodging, mileage, supplies, equipment purchases, and monitoring revenue (when applicable). Managing and requesting allocation of resources to meet goals. * Supporting agency and office goals, mission, vision, values, and objectives through document review, compiling data, analyzing data, and special projects as assigned; may participate in interview panels and new employee selection process; co-chairs and participates on agency committees; representing the agency in the event of an emergency. * Adhering to compliance protocol with Federal, state, and local regulations; and is responsible for rule, code, and policy implementation; monitoring changes to laws and regulations that impact their department(s)
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in nursing with 4 years of relevant experience (2 years of which are Public Health), OR Associate's degree in nursing with 6 years of relevant experience (3 years of which are Public Health) * Current valid Licensure from State of Ohio to practice as a Registered Nurse * Two (2) – three (3) years of supervisory and management experience * Must maintain Registered Nurse licensure by completing 24 CEUs every two (2) years * Must have an active CPR certification * Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) * Understands and acknowledges that Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County uses evidence-based and evidence-informed public health practices based on scientific research including health promotion theory and practice, environmental health measures, and communicable disease control measures including vaccination, isolation, and quarantine practices, and medicine for treatment and prevention of disease, among others * Understands and acknowledges the use of tobacco or nicotine products in any form including replacement therapy products and prescription medications used to treat smoking addiction for anyone hired after January 1, 2014, is prohibited * Required to play an active role during a public health emergency, crisis, outbreak, incident, or event in which the Health Commissioner deems additional personnel resources are warranted. This may include changes in responsibilities and working locations/hours * Completion of Incident Command System 100 and National Incident Management System 700 courses within 90 days of hire * Valid State of Ohio driver's license and insurance on any personal vehicle that will be used for work
