HR Payroll Specialist

Overview Payroll Specialist I ensures accurate processing and recording of the Bank’s payroll, provides timely and accurate financial information, and participates in daily data entry for payroll processing. Responsibilities Perform daily payroll department operations and manage workflow to ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and on time. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports. Understand proper taxation of employer-paid benefits. Process correct garnishment calculations and ensure compliance. Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll systems. Perform compliance procedures for unclaimed property payroll checks. Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (e.g., W-2, W-2c). Load import files received from HR (All Companies) and research/file issues with the appropriate audience. Demonstrate compliance with bank regulations for the assigned job function and stay up to date on regulatory changes. Follow Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and complete required training. Maintain working knowledge of Bank policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other applicable regulations. Mentor or train others as needed and share subject matter expertise. Actively contribute to Columbia corporate culture and demonstrate initiative and professionalism. May perform other duties as assigned. About You / Qualifications Some experience processing a multi-state payroll (Required). Knowledge of federal and state regulations (Preferred). Working knowledge of payroll systems (Preferred). Learning payroll best practices. Strong PC skills, including developing proficiency with Excel. Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team. High degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential material. Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills. Ability to communicate with various levels of management, and strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills. Compensation & Location The pay range for this role is $28.00 to $33.00 per hour. The pay rate is dependent on factors including knowledge, skills, experience, education, and location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, details provided during recruitment. Primary Location: Onsite at posted location(s) 2228 South 78th Street, Tacoma, WA 98409.
