Tech III - Surgical Cardiac - Surgery - Full Time 10 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Responsibilities Assist the surgical team and perform a variety of tasks in the operating room. Prepare, sterilize, and clean surgical equipment and instruments. Ensure patient safety, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and respond appropriately to intra‑operative crises. Maintain sterile set‑up and facilitate the smooth flow of surgical interventions, including preparation of preference cards and knowledge of instruments and equipment. Perform scrub role tasks such as passing instruments, cutting sutures, and general instrument handling. Clean and maintain instruments, equipment, and all surgical related items according to established guidelines. Transport patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens as needed. Set up the operating room tables, instruments, and supplies according to the case/operative procedure. Act as a preceptor in the training of students. Participate in decision‑making related to evaluating, acquiring, and maintaining surgical equipment and supplies. Recommend, implement, and participate in process‑improvement projects on an ongoing basis. Mentor and/or lead other surgical technicians and may assist in performing circulating skills and tasks. Perform all duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technician Program. At least three (3) years of surgical technician experience in an acute care setting. Expertise in at least three surgical specialties, one of which must be Cardiac and/or Liver Transplant. Experience with surgical services process‑improvement project planning, implementation, or participation. Active practice as a surgical technician within the six (6) months prior to application. Licenses & Certifications Valid Surgical Technician certification (CST) from CAAHEP or ABHES. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days and renewed prior to expiration. Compensation Hourly rate range: $36.50 – $62.05.
