Corporate Controller

We are seeking an intellectually curious and passionate Corporate Controller to lead all accounting, tax and financial shared services operations across a group of three industry leading, technology driven companies in the security, monitoring and life safety sectors. This position reports directly to the Group CFO and is an integral partner to the senior leadership team. About the Corporate Controller- Group Role In this role you will be the senior-most accounting professional at the organization leading a team of approximately 10 plus additional external resources. The ideal candidate should have a strong accounting, technical, financial reporting and operational finance background, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong team leadership capabilities, ability to manage external service providers including external auditors and strong acumen around financial systems and month-end close processes. We are looking for a self-starting professional with high attention to detail and the ability to work across multiple business units. Understanding of and exposure to various aspects of tax are a plus. Role and Responsibilities Lead all accounting, reporting, financial operations, taxation and audit activities of the organization, including: Month-end Close : Oversee all month end close activities and process including oversight of general accounting team, account reconciliation process and ensuring timely and accurate completion of close. Reporting/ Consolidations : Lead our external and GAAP financial reporting processes. Manage the consolidation process across all three companies as well as all inter-company processes. Partner with finance as needed to provide critical business support. Audit and Compliance : Lead management of our external audit process and oversee audit relationship. Enhance key governance processes and documentation around key accounting policies and ensure uniform standards across the companies. Financial Systems and Processes : Oversee all key processes related to the controllership, tax and financial. Lead any evaluation and implementation processes related to accounting, tax or financial operations systems and continuous improvement in automation. Billing & AR : Oversee all processes across the group of companies related to client billing, accounts receivable and collections with a focus on continuous improvement. Taxation : Manage all internal and external tax resources. Direct all activities covering sales, use, income and franchise taxes as well as other special projects that may arise. Evaluate and lead all opportunities related to tax automation and system processes. Training, Leadership & Performance : Develop, coach, mentor, evaluate and manage a high performance team that is built for scalability across the group of companies. Essential Qualifications Experience: 15+ years of experience with at least five years of experience at the Controller or Head of Accounting level. Experience leading both general accounting and financial operations teams with shared services and multi-entity experience a plus. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required. CPA is preferred, but not required. Knowledge/Skills/Experience Very strong managerial and leadership skills Deep and well-rounded knowledge of the Controller function and accounting standards, including creating and consolidating financial statements, managing budgets and forecasts, accounting information systems and strong understanding of key financial operations processes including general accounting, billing, A/R, A/P and taxation. Outstanding communication skills and ability to build relationships both in-person and remotely. Flexible to navigate multiple office environments and operate in a fast-paced environment. Personal maturity and presence with the ability to coach, develop and lead a matrixed team as well as manage relationships with key external stakeholders. Willingness to travel within NYC and NJ offices (incumbent will be based in one office but will need flexibility for limited travel to other local office locations). What's In It for You?
