Staff Accountant

Pay rate: $40–$70 per hour, depending on experience Location: Hybrid in Bethesda, with 2–3 days per week in the office Reports to: Accounting Manager A private equity firm focused on the power and energy infrastructure sectors is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support its Accounting team. The firm invests in and operates critical energy assets across North America, with an emphasis on improving performance and supporting the evolving energy landscape. This full-time, temporary position will assist with month-end close, cash accounting, account reconciliations, and special projects. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Prepare cash-related journal entries and complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations Research and resolve cash variances and other reconciling items Support month-end and quarter-end close activities Prepare balance-sheet reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting schedules Investigate discrepancies and coordinate with team members to resolve issues Assist with accounting, reporting, audit, and process-improvement projects Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready documentation Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred 2–4 years of accounting experience Understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines Experience with Sage Intacct or another ERP system is a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr hyrUP
