Secondary Operator

Job Description

Join a leading global contract manufacturer specializing in high-precision, CNC-machined surgical instruments and implants. Your role will support the production of critical components used in orthopedics, spinal care, robotics, ophthalmology, and cardiovascular fields.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of motorized and hand tools and machines.
• Monitor and control the quality of machining processes using process control tools.
• Maintain production processes, ensuring quality standards and efficiencies are met.
• Visually inspect parts for minor defects and perform functions such as deburring, buffing, cleaning, and polishing to restore optimal condition.
• Deburr, buff, and polish metal parts to meet customer cosmetic standards.
• Clean metal parts using established procedures.
• Apply paint in small areas of metal parts using motorized equipment.
• Perform data collection and communication tasks in Epicor and other applications.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities using tools such as brainstorming and tool tryout sheets.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Experience with machine operation and quality control.
• Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Ability to perform visual inspections and quality assurance.
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documentation.
• Strong manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Competence in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in assembly, packing, and packaging.
• Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
• Knowledge of grinding and deburring processes.
• Capability to work on feet for ten to twelve hours per day.

Work Environment

The work environment is a clean and well-organized manufacturing area. Employees are expected to be on their feet for extended periods, handle various tools, and work safely near mechanical parts. Vision abilities are crucial due to the use of microscopes, magnifiers, and optical comparators.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kentwood, MI.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
