Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Physical Therapist Assistant include:

• Implement individual physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
• Administer physical therapy modalities, such as electrotherapy, ultrasound, and manual therapy techniques, per the established Plan of Care.
• Educate and train patients on appropriate exercises, ambulation techniques, and the use of adaptive equipment to enhance daily living activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress by updating records, including progress notes and treatment outcomes, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Refer patients to additional healthcare services as necessary based on observed improvements or ongoing challenges.
• Communicate effectively with supervising therapists regarding any patient evaluations needed, in alignment with state practice regulations.
• Participate in professional development through in-service training and continuing education programs, focusing on physical therapy advancements.
• Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe treatment environment, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and in good working order.

Qualifications

• An Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
