SUMMARY: MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Professor in Benign Hematology to join our collaborative team within the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Division of Internal Medicine. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished academic physician to join one of the nation's leading academic cancer centers. PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Our team specializes in diagnosing and treating non-cancerous blood disorders in patients with cancer, as well as assessing and managing individuals with non-malignant blood conditions outside the cancer setting. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary oncology teams, faculty play an integral role in supporting patient care throughout the cancer continuum. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Engage in clinical practice focused on benign hematology, including the diagnosis and treatment of non-cancerous blood disorders. Contribute to scholarly activities and research in non-malignant hematology, with a particular emphasis on cancer-associated thrombosis. Lead and develop programs, conduct research, and complete scholarly activities aligned with the goals of the institution’s Hematology Section. Mentor young faculty, fellows, and trainees in both clinical practice and research. Assist in securing research funding and develop strategies for cancer-related benign hematology research. Participate in institutional academic activities and enhance the academic environment. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Proven experience in benign or non-malignant hematology, including clinical and/or basic science research, especially in the area of cancer-associated thrombosis. Scholarly Activity: A strong track record of scientific accomplishment, including evidence of scholarly activity, research publications, and demonstrated skill in writing and communication. Research & Mentorship: The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research, assist in securing funding for research initiatives, and mentor trainees at various levels of their academic careers. Commitment to Education: Demonstrated commitment to academic teaching and mentoring within the field of hematology. PROTECTED RESEARCH TIME & FACULTY RANK: The selected candidate will receive protected time to lead and develop research programs and scholarly activities. Faculty rank and protected research time will be offered commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. COMPENSATION: Competitive compensation will be provided, commensurate with the candidate’s rank and qualifications.
