Diagnostics Solutions Consultant

Locations considered: Massachusetts (excluding Boston) & Rhode Island. Role Description The Diagnostics Solutions Consultant (DSC) is a field‑based, customer‑facing member of the sales team accountable for selling Zoetis diagnostic instruments, tests, and associated products and services within an assigned U.S. sales territory. The DSC builds and maintains customer relationships to maximize retention, achieves budgeted sales quotas within targeted accounts, and updates and maintains sales funnel and customer profile data within the system. The DSC collaborates with other Zoetis colleagues to achieve driving business goals and supports the diagnostics business. Anticipated travel within the assigned territory: up to 60%–70% of time. Must speak fluent English. Position Responsibilities Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of diagnostic products and services. Travel to existing and prospective customer offices with a target of 3–4 existing and 3–4 new opportunities per day. Extensive driving and occasional overnight travel (approx. 4–8 nights per month, depending on territory). Document all customer and prospect interactions in the online system. Transport equipment to customer and potential customer locations. Lift, set up, and demonstrate diagnostic solutions, equipment, and features. Explain product uses and benefits, answer questions, and communicate the value proposition effectively. Secure purchase orders for diagnostic products and services. Provide ongoing customer support, including in‑person, phone, and email assistance, courtesy calls, and updates on new products or service changes. Coordinate with sales, accounting, and technical staff to address customer needs in a timely manner. Collaborate with Diagnostic Technical Specialists to enhance customer service and utilization. Generate new business and leads, including placing instruments in competitor accounts, academia, research settings, and gathering referrals. Support billing and collection efforts. Safely lift and move up to 60 lbs. Education and Experience Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated sales experience or relevant technical/clinical experience, preferably in the medical, scientific, or healthcare industry. Minimum of an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred); preferably with a science or business emphasis or equivalent experience. Technical Skills and Competencies Early‑adopter behaviors for rapid learning. Absorb and apply technical information; demonstrate skilled technical sales capabilities. Grow technical knowledge through relationships, creative solutions, and enhanced customer loyalty. Expertise in veterinary terminology and science. Experience selling capital equipment in physician and/or veterinary clinics. Skilled at making presentations, including financial presentations, and capable of transporting, setting up, and demonstrating equipment quickly. Balance strategic and tactical business requirements. Understand current and emerging market trends, sales initiatives, and information affecting the business. Knowledge of competition and their value messaging. Understand how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace. Strong organizational, prioritization, and time‑management skills. Ability to multi‑task and work independently. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, auto insurance. Compensation & Benefits US base salary range: $69,000.00 – $100,000.00. The range reflects the base pay target for new hires and is adjusted for work location and additional factors such as experience. The position is also eligible for short‑term incentive compensation.
