Job Description
Title: Inpatient Postpartum RN

Schedule:
- Shift type: Days/Nights/Weekends
- Patient ratios: 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients)
- Weekend coverage: required

Assignment Details:
- Unit type: 40-bed inpatient postpartum; family-centered care for mother/infant (couplet care)
- Patient population: Postpartum adults and healthy/newborn neonates

Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years postpartum experience
- Labor & Delivery (L&D) and IV start experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, IV certification, IV start skills
- Telemetry interpretation required; RN expected to pass an EKG exam prior to start

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum patients and their newborns
- Conduct assessments and monitor patient and newborn conditions
- Administer medications and IV therapies as needed
- Educate patients on breastfeeding and postpartum care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Manage and respond to postpartum complications

Compliance / Notes:
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Pre-approved time off: 2 shifts
- Fingerprinting required with strict deadlines
- Vaccination: Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Employment eligibility: current employees ineligible; former employees eligible after 6+ months away
