About The Position

We're looking for a Senior Vice President of Finance who leads like an owner, not a caretaker. This is not a maintain-the-status-quo role — it's a build-and-scale role. As Senior VP of Finance, you will own the financial engine behind a hyper-growth organization while stepping into a broader strategic finance seat, providing financial leadership and stewardship across the business. You'll set the standard for speed, accuracy, and accountability across every close, every audit, and every dollar that moves through the business — and you'll operate as a strategic partner to executive leadership, shaping capital strategy, driving financial and tax strategy, and translating the numbers into decisions, not just data.

Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Assist in shaping the company's future direction and tactical initiatives as a key partner to the executive team.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to monitor and implement strategic business plans.
• Develop and oversee financial and tax strategies that support business goals.
• Manage the capital request and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic priorities.
• Develop and implement performance measures that align with and support the company's strategic objectives.
• Participate in key decision-making processes as a member of the executive leadership team.

Financial Reporting, Close & Compliance

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycle end-to-end — reviewing, analyzing, and correcting to guarantee accuracy the first time, not after the fact.
• Lead a fast, clean close — entries, reconciliations, and analysis delivered with speed and precision every cycle.
• Set the standard for whether accounting is run on a cash or accrual basis, and drive the roadmap to full GAAP compliance as the business scales.
• Oversee the preparation and issuance of financial information to executive leadership, delivering board- and executive-ready reporting that turns financial data into a growth narrative, not just a compliance exercise.

Audit, Risk & Regulatory

• Own the external audit relationship and drive it to a clean result — no surprises, no scrambling.
• Design audit procedures around how the business actually operates, proactively identifying risk before it becomes a finding.
• Serve as the internal authority on tax compliance, directing preparation and filing of corporate returns with precision.
• Monitor the company's risk profile and implement strategies to mitigate financial and operational risk, including appropriate insurance coverage to protect company assets.
• Construct and oversee reliable internal control systems, and ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Partner cross-functionally to ensure revenue recognition is accurate, timely, and defensible under scrutiny.

Cash, Treasury & Capital Strategy

• Monitor the company's cash flow and cash forecasts.
• Manage and arrange debt and equity financing as needed.
• Maintain and nurture banking relationships and manage financing arrangements.

Transaction Integrity, Billing & Reconciliation

• Own reconciliation of related-party transactions, holding the line on accounting standards without exception.
• Root-cause discrepancies in the financials and drive the fix, not just flag the problem.
• Oversee bank and credit card reconciliation across all company accounts with zero tolerance for unexplained variance.
• Own billing schedules, chargebacks, and refunds, ensuring revenue is recorded and collected accurately and on time across payment platforms including Stripe, Shopify, and Invoiced.com.
• Partner with FP&A on commission reporting, catching and correcting errors in ecommerce commission structures before they compound.

M&A & Third-Party Relationships

• Oversee due diligence and negotiations for acquisitions.
• Supervise the financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations.
• Represent the company in dealings with external vendors and other third-party partners.

Team Leadership & Organizational Scaling

• Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performance finance and accounting team — building bench strength, not just headcount.
• Drive continuous process improvement, replacing manual work with scalable systems as the company grows 10X.
• Oversee the management and performance of outsourced accounting or finance functions where applicable.
• Maintain strong relationships across the leadership team to ensure alignment across departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree in Finance highly preferred.
• CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance leadership experience, including proven success as a Controller, VP of Finance, or similar senior finance leadership role — ideally with a major company, division of a large corporation, or hyper-growth/private-equity-backed environment.
• Minimum 3 years of revenue recognition experience; strong grasp of audit methodology, risk management, and tax regulation.
• Deep command of GAAP and applicable financial regulations, with hands-on experience transitioning a company from cash to accrual accounting.
• Expertise managing multiple entity business income streams, including contracts, e-commerce sales, and international operations; familiarity with multi-family or real estate investments is a plus.
• Experience with related-party transactions and multi-entity consolidations.
• Proven experience partnering with executive teams and managing multiple aspects of financial operations.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (complex formulas, modeling) and NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, Intacct, or comparable ERP/accounting systems; familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and their integration with accounting systems is a plus.
• Proven people leadership — experience hiring, coaching, and growing a finance/accounting team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to clearly articulate complex financial concepts to executive leadership.
• Project management skill and the presence to run cross-functional meetings and drive alignment.
• A bias for ownership: builds trust and commands respect quickly, treats problems as theirs to solve, and operates with urgency in ambiguity.
• Comfort operating without a playbook — willing to build the process from zero when one doesn't exist yet.
