You will play a key role in developing adaptable, secure, and interoperable architectures that enable the organization to respond effectively to evolving business needs, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements.As a Solutions Architect, you will partner closely with Enterprise Architects, Principal Advisors, business leaders, and technical teams to define and deliver strategic architecture solutions spanning applications, data, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and integrated business processes. You will translate complex business challenges into scalable technology roadmaps and architecture designs that support grid modernization and operational excellence.You will establish architecture standards and design principles, develop technical specifications for new technologies and services, and evaluate products and platforms to ensure seamless integration across enterprise and grid ecosystems. Work with program managers to plan technical work streams and identify risks and issues. Take responsibility for critical technology decisions. Define integration standards and govern project alignment to standards.Technical Leadership – Provide technical thought leadership when working with other IT teams and partners. Work with business and IT senior leadership to establish projects to support related Business and IT goals. Represent Digital Grid Services in project architecture, design, and planning. Develop presentations by gathering and analyzing information to present to senior leadership.Technical Advisor – Provide expert guidance and consultation services to clients to provide understanding of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.Strategic Guidance – Provide an understanding to others of the strategy Roadmap which aligns with industry benchmarks. Identify our 3 – 5-year goals, and high-level projects and programs to meet our clients’ needs. Work with vendors and senior leadership directly as well as engineers, IT specialists, architects, and analysts from various disciplines to achieve desired business outcomes. Team Lead – Provide mentoring, guidance, and training to other senior technical team members. Innovation – Fosters technical innovation within the team and leads by example when developing solutions. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?ResponsibilitiesCreates proof of concepts which identify the right projects to use new technology, assists the project with technology implementation and assists DevOps teams with maintenance of the newly implemented technology.Supports new projects with designing, testing and approving architecture compliance with SCE's architectural principles, standards and blueprints.Partners with the DevOps team to resolve architectural problems related to any IT domain, including Business, Apps, Data, Security, Server, Networks or Storage.Analyzes business requirements to develop robust systems requirements to ensure the system characteristics required by the design are achieved.Analyzes architecture changes and upgrades to existing operational business applications and updates supporting design documents.Supports IT management by providing technology direction and support.Writes conceptual, logical and occasional physical architecture specification adhering to SCE adapted TOGAF methodologies and templates.Assists the Enterprise Architecture team with creating needed artifacts for architecture reviews. Reviews estimates for software development and delivery to ensure quality and accuracy. Ensures that platform and project architecture documentation is completed to a high standard.A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.Minimum QualificationsSeven or more years of experience in designing and developing IT architecture.Preferred QualificationsSeven or more years of experience designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions, including solution architecture, systems integration, and vendor collaboration.Five or more years of experience serving as a Technical Lead, Solution Architect, or Systems Engineer for large-scale, mission-critical environments.Three or more years of experience leading enterprise deployments and system implementations across complex application and infrastructure platforms.Experience designing resilient, secure, and highly available solutions using cloud, COTS, and enterprise integration technologies.Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture, service-oriented architecture (SOA), APIs, messaging frameworks, and distributed systems integration.Experience with cybersecurity architecture, defense-in-depth principles, and industry security standards.Experience with databases, modern application development frameworks, container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Tanzu), and DevOps practices.Working knowledge of AI/ML technologies and their integration into enterprise solutions.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.Experience in the utility industry, Smart Grid technologies, NERC CIP, or government/critical infrastructure security environments.Exceptional leadership, communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and executive audiences.Familiarity with ITIL, PMI, and enterprise governance best practices.Additional Information This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
