Property Accountant

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join their growing commercial real estate accounting team in Red Bank, NJ. This individual will be responsible for the financial reporting and accounting of an assigned portfolio of commercial properties while partnering closely with property management and accounting leadership. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to build a long-term career in commercial real estate. While prior property accounting experience is preferred, candidates with strong accounting fundamentals and an eagerness to learn will also be considered. Responsibilities Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements for an assigned portfolio of properties. Record monthly journal entries, including accruals and other adjusting entries. Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger. Perform account reconciliations and support month-end close. Assist with CAM, insurance, and real estate tax reconciliations. Review tenant rent billings for accuracy. Prepare lender reporting and financial schedules as needed. Assist with year-end audits and prepare audit support schedules. Analyze financial results and investigate discrepancies. Partner with property management and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting. Assist with process improvements and special projects as the portfolio continues to grow. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. 3-5 years of accounting experience. Experience preparing financial statements and performing month-end close. Strong understanding of both cash and accrual accounting. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications Commercial real estate or property accounting experience.
