Details Work in a 22-bed Neuro ICU within a hospital setting Care for adult and geriatric patients with an average daily census of 21 Patient ratio of 1:2, up to 1:3 for stable, lower acuity patients Common diagnoses include acute ischemic stroke, ICH, SAH, TBI, status epilepticus, brain tumors, cerebral edema, hydrocephalus, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disorders, CNS infections, and post-craniotomy patients Uses specialized equipment including ICP monitors, EVDs, continuous EEG, mechanical ventilators, arterial line monitoring, central venous catheters, infusion/syringe pumps, bedside ultrasound, telemetry, cooling devices, SCDs, specialty ICU beds, and point-of-care testing equipment Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-07:30 Every other weekend required Holiday coverage required as scheduled Floating required within the specialty to lower acuity units as needed On-call requirements may apply Requirements Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only) CPI and NIHSS certifications preferred Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required First-time travelers with strong Neuro ICU skill and experience will be considered Additional Information Provide critical care nursing to patients with complex neurological conditions in a high-acuity ICU environment Navy blue scrubs required Travelers are expected to float within their scope of practice with no restrictions Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not eligible unless locals are specifically accepted Return travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the health system before returning Former staff members must be separated from the system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler Most locations allow one contract and one extension before requiring a 6-month break before returning to the facility or unit Maximum of 7 days RTO can be requested, with additional back-end scheduling required for requests exceeding 4 consecutive days on new contracts American Traveler Job ID P-746978.
