Job Title : Nurse Manager, RN – MedSurg – Mount Sinai Morningside – Full‑time – Day shift Company : Mount Sinai Health System – Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital Overview : The Nurse Manager leads nursing practice and operations on the MedSurg unit, ensuring high‑quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and organizational excellence. Responsibilities Lead nursing practice using the Professional Practice Model of Relationship‑Centered Care and Modified Primary Nursing for the promotion of patient experience. Perform Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) and model expected behaviors; validate staff competency and provide consistent feedback. Communicate quantitative and qualitative data on patient experience and staff engagement to the interdisciplinary team for action planning. Collaborate with the physician dyad, resolve staff concerns promptly, and provide service recovery as needed. Advocate for caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in all interactions. Implement and sustain a safe, therapeutic, patient‑centered environment; lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in root‑cause analysis. Maintain compliance with all regulatory agency mandates, including NYS DOH and The Joint Commission. Oversee 24‑hour patient care delivery, staffing and processes for efficiency; prepare and monitor unit budgets. Recruit, retain, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff; ensure performance standards and competency evaluations are met. Serve as a clinical role model, fostering continuous learning, evidence‑based practice, and professional development. Qualifications Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or related field required or enrollment in a program. Experience : Minimum 3 years of bedside MedSurg experience. 3–5 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting. Licensing and Certification : Registered Nurse license, NY State, Department of Health/Office of Professions. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified. Child Abuse certification required. Infection Control certification required.
