Washington Midlevel Insurance Recovery and Counseling Associate

Overview At K&L Gates, we are looking for smart, imaginative, and hard‑working people to join our Insurance Recovery and Counseling practice group in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation and experience counseling and representing policyholders in complex insurance coverage litigation, including arbitrations. Responsibilities As an associate you will work closely with experienced lawyers who provide active mentoring and opportunities to assume increasing levels of responsibility and client contact. You will counsel policyholders in complex insurance coverage litigation, support the practice team in a fast‑paced environment, and collaborate on cases requiring intricate policy analysis and arbitration. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials Admission to the state bar and in good standing or ability to become admitted promptly Minimum of 3‑6 years of legal experience Ability to analyze and interpret complex insurance policies, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage frameworks Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment Strong organizational and time‑management skills, prioritizing and managing multiple deadlines effectively Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment High degree of professionalism, initiative, and attention to detail Compensation Base compensation $250,000–$360,000 per year. Salary is determined during the interview process based on experience, expertise, business needs, and market factors.
