Accounts Payable Specialist
LaSalle Network is hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist for an immediate contract opportunity with a leading global trading and financial services organization in downtown Chicago. Following a recent Oracle implementation, the accounting team is navigating parallel processing, organizational changes and increased transaction volume. As a result, they are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist who can step in quickly, make an immediate impact and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is not a traditional invoice-processing role. The ideal Accounts Payable Specialist will bring strong accounting judgment, understand how accounts payable impacts the general ledger and feel comfortable working within a complex, multi-entity, multi-currency environment. Strong performers may have the opportunity to extend beyond the initial contract term.
What's the job?
- Process and review high-volume accounts payable transactions, averaging approximately 1,000 invoices per month
- Manage invoice approvals, coding and payment processing across multiple entities
- Support journal entries and account reconciliations related to AP activity
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues
- Work within Oracle ERP while supporting ongoing transition activities
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
- Collaborate with accounting leadership to maintain accurate financial reporting
- Support AP operations in a global, multi-currency environment
What's needed?
- 2-3+ years of experience as an Accounts Payable Specialist or in a similar accounting-focused AP role
- Experience working in a global, multi-currency environment
- Understanding of journal entries, reconciliations and AP-to-GL processes
- ERP experience required; Oracle experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal training or ramp-up time
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and accounting judgment
- Financial services or similarly complex industry experience is highly preferred
