Summary

As a James Hardie intern, you will gain hands-on experience in your chosen field while contributing to meaningful projects that drive business results. Our 12-week paid internship program is designed to provide real-world industry exposure, strengthen your professional and technical skills, and help prepare you for a successful career. Throughout the program, you will collaborate with experienced professionals, build valuable relationships across the organization, and take on work that makes a measurable impact. You will also have access to mentoring opportunities and professional development resources to support your growth and career aspirations.

Internship Objective

The objective of this internship is to provide hands-on experience in enterprise talent and performance management while contributing to the continuous improvement of programs that support employees and managers. The intern will analyze experience data, support annual talent processes, and develop recommendations to improve program efficiency, consistency, adoption, and user experience. The internship will culminate in a capstone project that delivers a practical, scalable improvement for the Talent, Culture & Engagement function.

By the end of the internship, the intern will:

• Demonstrate understanding of enterprise talent management and performance management practices.
• Deliver actionable recommendations supported by data and stakeholder feedback.
• Independently manage a defined project workstream.
• Build effective partnerships with HR, Talent, and business stakeholders.
• Present findings and recommendations to Talent, Culture & Engagement leaders.

What You’ll Do:

Performance Management

• Evaluate the employee and manager experience across goal setting, mid-year reviews, and year-end reviews.
• Analyze process metrics, completion rates, and feedback trends.
• Identify opportunities to simplify forms, communications, job aids, and workflows.
• Develop recommendations to improve adoption and manager effectiveness.

Talent Management

• Support talent review and succession planning activities through data preparation, reporting, and process documentation.
• Assist with talent scorecards, dashboard development, and talent metrics analysis.
• Review Individual Development Plan (IDP) utilization and identify opportunities to increase participation and quality.
• Research industry best practices in talent assessment, succession planning, high-potential development, and internal mobility.

• Assist with intern performance evaluations, feedback collection, and program reporting.
• Support behind-the-scenes coordination of intern learning experiences, communications, events, and key program milestones.
• Partner with HR and program leaders to identify opportunities to enhance the intern experience.

• Act as a representative of the intern cohort and help build connections across interns and business functions.
• Encourage participation in program activities and networking opportunities.
• Help gather and share feedback to improve the overall intern experience.
• Support engagement activities, events, and community-building efforts throughout the summer.

What You’ll Bring:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university, with an anticipated graduation in May 2029 (rising junior).
• Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Available to work full-time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Skills

• Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret data and identify trends.
• Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
• Curious, self-motivated, and comfortable challenging existing processes constructively.
• Interest in supporting talent management, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and employee experience initiatives.

What You’ll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $20 to $25 per hour. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and may change over time.
