Senior Accounting Manager

We are partnering with a well-established and highly respected real estate organization in Los Angeles that is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to join its accounting leadership team. The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, lead the month-end close process, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and play a key role in developing the accounting team while driving process improvements. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical accounting skills, real estate industry experience, and a passion for building efficient accounting processes. Key Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Oversee the general ledger and ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data across multiple legal entities. Assist with consolidations, inter‑company transactions, and ownership reporting. Oversee accounting for a diversified portfolio of real estate assets, including commercial, office, industrial, retail, or multifamily properties. Review property‑level financial statements, CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, lease accounting, and fixed asset activity. Partner with Property Management and Asset Management teams to support operational and financial objectives. Monitor capital projects, acquisitions, dispositions, and development accounting as needed. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing culture. Establish priorities, delegate responsibilities, and ensure deadlines are consistently met. Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities for team members. Serve as a key resource and business partner to finance, operations, and executive leadership. Process Improvement & Internal Controls Evaluate existing accounting processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency and scalability. Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Participate in ERP enhancements, system implementations, and automation initiatives. Compliance & Audit Coordinate the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors. Partner with outside tax advisors to support tax reporting and compliance. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA strongly preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years managing or leading an accounting team. Prior real estate industry experience with property accounting and multi‑entity financial reporting. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls. Experience with Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar ERP systems preferred. Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to build strong cross‑functional relationships.
