Patient Services RepresentativeIndependence Plus is now hiring a full-time Patient Services Representative. This position will be based out of our Oak Brook, IL (DuPage County) office and reports to the Intake and Patient Services Manager. Full benefits available; PTO, medical, dental, vision coverage and 401(k) plan. After training, this role qualifies as a hybrid position.The Patient Services Representative is primarily responsible for providing excellent attention and coordination for Home Medical Equipment (HME) clients, payers, and referral sources.Essential Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesProvides excellent patient servicesProvides order intake via phone/faxVerifies insurance, confirms orders, provides data entry for new patientsCompletes Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN's)Completes prior approvals and authorizationsContacts patients for re-ordersCompletes repair ordersMaintains open communication with payers, referral sources, patients, and all administrative staffEnsures that all files are maintained according to IPI policies and reports all discrepancies to immediate supervisorStays informed regarding changes in billing guidelines for all payer sources and share information with appropriate IPI personnelResearches and recommends improvements in general procedures (i.e. billing, items purchased, etc.) to streamline processes and minimize unneeded expensePurchasing and receiving duties, as neededPromotes home nursing and respiratory / HME referrals in the healthcare communityComplies with agency, state, federal, and CHAP policies and proceduresRequirementsBachelor's degree preferred or industry experienceExperience in HME billing including insurance verification, data entry skillsMust exercise good working knowledge of computer applications, word processing, spreadsheet, email, and other software programs as needed for assisting in Medical BillingExcellent computer skills; experience with Brightree preferredFamiliarity with medical codingDemonstrates good communication and teamwork both within and outside the departmentBilingual (Spanish-English) preferred
