Must be willing to work outside the typical 9 am–5 pm weekday schedule at a 24‑hour emergency hospital. Job Summary Responsible for overseeing ER technicians and support staff on assigned shifts. Registered veterinary technician preferred but not required. Lead, manage, and hold all staff accountable. Duties include assigning caseload, assessing patient care, acting as a liaison, providing training, ensuring compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage shift flow by assigning shifts based on technician skill and caseload. Ensure technicians complete all cases and patient care. Facilitate communication among customers, technicians, and doctors for accurate and efficient case completion. Oversee all aspects of medical care, enforcing nursing protocols, anesthetic, surgical, safety, laboratory, radiology procedures and infectious disease control. Assist in resolving client questions and concerns per PETS policy. Supervise daily tasks to ensure fair workload and completion of client service, patient care, and housekeeping duties. Lead and mentor emergency paraprofessional staff positively. Partner with ER floor manager and hospital manager to provide cohesive leadership. Take an active role in training and teaching team members on the floor. Assist in resolving client problems and concerns. Set and model the standard for performance, professionalism, patient care and client service on shift. Assist management with evaluations, feedback, and counseling/coaching of team members. Attend and participate in shift coordinator meetings. Pursue continuing education and learning opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician in a leadership role. Minimum 1 year of surgical anesthesia experience. Strong people skills: leadership, problem solving, and communication. Must be physically capable of performing veterinary technician duties.
