Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

The Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse is dedicated to collaborating with the Radiation Oncology Team to ensure continuity and quality patient care. This position involves assessing and implementing nursing interventions for patients facing challenges related to their cancer diagnosis and treatment. The role underscores the importance of teaching, counseling, and providing support to patients and their families throughout their journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and deliver appropriate nursing interventions related to the disease process and treatment.
• Assist in the evaluation and examination of patients alongside the Radiation Oncologist.
• Serve as a liaison between Radiation Oncology and other hospitals/departments, as well as physician groups and support networks.
• Assess and coordinate referrals for resources such as rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice, and nutritional services.
• Provide education and counseling to patients and families to help them cope with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Qualifications

• Current Colorado RN License in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience specifically in Radiation Oncology.

• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with multidisciplinary team members.
• Organized and flexible in coordinating patient care across various interdisciplinary staff.
• Knowledgeable in providing care across diverse age groups and cultural backgrounds.
• Familiarity with chronic illness management and understanding of comorbidities.
• Current knowledge of trends, skills, procedures, and protocols in hematology/oncology.
• Understanding of evidence-based practices in oncology, immunology, and pharmacology.

Schedule

This position requires working 4-10 hour shifts during weekdays.
