Key Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly account reconciliations, including:
- Bank accounts
- Fuel card programs
- Vendor accounts
- Balance sheet accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, adjustments, prepaid expenses, and depreciation
- Analyze general ledger activity and ensure proper debit and credit application as a detail-focused Junior Accountant
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies by partnering with AP, AR, operations, and maintenance teams
- Support month-end close by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and variance explanations
- Maintain documentation and support internal controls to ensure financial accuracy
- 1-3 years of experience as a Junior Accountant or in a similar entry-level accounting role
- Strong understanding of debits and credits, general ledger structure, and accounting fundamentals
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Comfortable working under deadlines in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment
