Human Resources Specialist

As a Human Resources Specialist, you will serve as a key member of the Human Resources team by delivering exceptional customer service, supporting daily HR operations, coordinating new hire onboarding, and providing administrative support that helps ensure efficient and effective HR services across University Health. Position Summary The Human Resources Specialist serves as the first point of contact for employees, applicants, visitors, and leadership while supporting a variety of Human Resources functions. This position is responsible for coordinating onboarding activities, providing front-office support, maintaining confidential records, and assisting with departmental initiatives that contribute to an exceptional employee experience. Essential Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, applicants, visitors, and department leaders, providing professional and courteous customer service. Answer, screen, and direct a high volume of incoming telephone calls and inquiries. Welcome and assist visitors to the Human Resources Department. Coordinate and process new hire onboarding activities, ensuring a smooth and positive onboarding experience. Escort new employees to Employee Health for required pre-employment services. Prepare, maintain, and process confidential personnel records and HR documentation. Assist with employment verification, general HR inquiries, and administrative support. Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of employee information in accordance with organizational policies. Support Human Resources projects, initiatives, and special assignments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. One (1) year or more of experience in Human Resources, administrative support, customer service, or a related field. Working knowledge of Human Resources principles, practices, and office procedures. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HR information systems is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a healthcare or hospital Human Resources environment.
