Junior Accountant

We are seeking a Junior Accountant to join one of our client’s growing real estate firms. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of accounting experience within the real estate industry and possess a solid understanding of accounting principles coupled with their Accounting or Finance degree. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to property accounting, month-end close activities, tenant receivables, and real estate financial operations while working alongside a collaborative accounting team. The position sits in Midtown Manhattan and offers a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
• Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
• Review transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Assist with accounting for commercial and residential properties.
• Monitor tenant receivables and support rent collection processes.
• Track property expenses and ensure proper allocation of costs.
• Record and reconcile security deposits, CAM charges, and other tenant-related transactions.
• Maintain lease and property financial records.
• Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the real estate industry.
• Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.

Compensation: $32 - $37/hr, depending on experience.
