Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Inspire and support young learners by taking on a rewarding contract role as an Elementary Life Skills Special Education Teacher in a vibrant educational environment near Wapato, WA. This onsite-only position offers you the chance to work with elementary students, guiding them in essential academic and life skills while making a meaningful difference every day.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid special education teaching certification
- Experience working with students requiring life skills or similar special education support
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and ability to implement them effectively
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with students, families, and staff
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability in diverse classroom settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to elementary students in the Life Skills program, adapting content to each learner's unique needs
- Develop, document, and evaluate IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams and parents
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student can thrive
- Track and report individual progress, using evidence-based strategies to promote growth
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and regular communication with families and colleagues
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment at all times
