Recreation Program Specialist

Job Title

You'll be responsible for the planning and implementation of youth, teen, and adult programs. Work includes providing supervision over part-time, temporary, and volunteer workers. Work is performed under the general supervision of Community Center Manager - CFCC.

Some specific examples include (this is not an exhaustive list and is only for illustration purposes):

• Promotes and leads the development, coordination, and implementation of programs for youth, teen, adults, and multi-generational participants.
• Manages part-time and volunteer personnel; interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, evaluating, and administering corrective action as needed.
• Provide daily direct supervision of assigned programs, activities, and staff.
• Offers recommendations in the development of the program budget.
• Submits program expenditures and recommends fee structures for programs and registrations in accordance with established Fees and Charges policies.
• Prepares and submits appropriate information for financial and operational reporting, including expenditure and revenue updates, quarterly analysis, and staff work plans.
• Maintains a flexible work schedule aligned with facility operating hours and provides support to other departmental programs, initiatives, and events as necessary.
• Conducts onboarding and staff training for programs, including school based and summer camp.
• Provides high-quality customer service and serves as liaison for internal and external customers; responds to inquiries and communicates program and facility information.
• Supports facility and program operations, including maintenance planning, identifying operational needs, and assisting with implementation of schedules.
• Assists with planning and implementing meetings and training; plans for material and/or support resources; tracks and monitors supplies and inventory.
• Oversees program registration, attendance tracking, and participant communication; assists with marketing efforts to recruit and retain participants.
• Addresses and resolves concerns, disputes, and complaints; enforces rules and ensures compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Conducts regular inspection of activity areas and reports findings to appropriate party to schedule repairs.
• Assists the Center Manager with daily facility operations and administrative functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in parks & recreation management or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in recreation or leisure programming of some kind

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)
