Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Munitions Acceleration Lead (Onsite)

Position: Principal Lead System Engineer (LSE) – Munitions Acceleration Team (MAT) – SM-3 Program Location: Tucson, AZ, United States Security Clearance: Secret – active & transferable U.S. government‑issued clearance required. U.S. citizenship is mandatory. Role Summary The SM‑3 program is hiring a Principal Lead System Engineer to accelerate production of the SM‑3 missile. The LSE will guide technical execution of projects across Raytheon SM‑3 production and supplier networks, provide mentorship, and maintain rigorous technical standards across engineering disciplines. Responsibilities Develop and refine data‑driven models of the production system to identify and champion projects that demonstrably improve SM‑3 production rate and capacity. Guide production improvements for the SM‑3 missile from a technical perspective across multiple Integrated Product Teams and Cross Product Teams (IPTs & CPTs). Interpret missile requirements and objectives into actionable direction for program and supplier teams, balancing margin and producibility. Provide program leadership to IPTs, CPTs, and collaborative partners from Engineering, Operations, Mission Assurance, and Global Supply Chain. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience. Experience leading full systems engineering lifecycle: design, requirements development, management, verification, integration, test, and production of complex system architectures. Demonstrated ability to work with leaders and customer community stakeholders to influence production program projects. Desired Qualifications Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline. Experience in Digital Engineering and Model‑Based Systems Engineering or other model‑based tools. Proven ability as a technical leader developing work plans and driving program/team execution. Experience leading teams across development and transition to production lifecycle. Experience in production programs; prior experience with Missile Defense Agency and MAP. Experience with shipboard missile system architectures and products. Strong communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills. History of teaching, mentorship, and apprenticeship. Raytheon Level4 Certified Lead System Engineer or participant in the Lead System Engineer Development Program (LSEDP). Benefits Salary range: $132,400 – $251,600 USD.
