Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic Focus)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 3x12 per week | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit serving orthopedic, neuro spine, post-surgical, and general med-surg patient populations
• Manage pain assessment and pain management protocols for orthopedic and spine patients
• Perform IV starts and monitor telemetry for assigned patient load
• Maintain patient ratios typically at 5–6:1, with occasional flex up to 7:1 in extreme circumstances
• Float to other med-surg units within the facility as needed to meet staffing and census demands
• Adhere to every-other-weekend scheduling requirements, including makeup of any missed weekend shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with demonstrated orthopedic nursing experience required
• Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Current BLS (BCLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification
• Charge nurse experience
• Level I Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic EMR (required for first-time travelers)
