Credential Advisor

Credential Advisor CSUN seeks a Credential Advisor to support credential recommendation processes and provide advisement to students. Major Duties Pre‑ and post‑admission advisement on routine and complex issues via individual appointment, telephone, email, and walk‑in. Conduct large group presentations, including information sessions, orientation sessions, next‑steps sessions, outreach and recruitment events, and activities. Evaluate, process, and submit credential recommendations in compliance with state regulations to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for initial, renewal, intern, and appeal credentials. Verify completion of requirements and certify all candidates for recommendation. Research and compile credential progress reports, evaluate course substitutions, process change‑of‑program requests, write status letters, add and remove registration holds, etc. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Equivalent to graduation from a four‑year college or university in a job‑related field. Equivalent to two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field. A master’s degree in a job‑related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated ability to provide clear, accurate, and student‑centered advisement on complex academic and credential requirements through multiple modalities, including individual consultations and large group presentations. Skilled in conveying policies, resolving concerns, and maintaining effective, professional communication with diverse student populations. Ability to interpret and apply university and state credential policies using sound professional judgment to address complex cases. Proficient in leveraging student information systems and digital tools to track progress, maintain detailed records, ensure compliance, and support efficient advising operations. Knowledge of state credentialing regulations and institutional requirements, with the ability to accurately evaluate academic records, verify eligibility, and process credential recommendations. Demonstrates strong attention to detail, discretion, and accuracy when ensuring compliance and resolving discrepancies. Proficiency in utilizing student information systems and databases to input, track, and maintain credential‑related data and correspondence. Ability to serve as a technical resource while effectively collaborating with district personnel, human resources, and institutional partners to support credentialing processes. Classification: 3082 / Student Services Professional II / 1 The anticipated HIRING RATE is $5083 - $5400 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5083 - $7228 per month. Hours: Full Time; 40 hrs per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends. Travel will be required to on‑and off‑campus conferences, events, workshops, and trainings. This is a regular position with a one‑year probationary period. The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
