Job Title: Part-Time House Manager

Employment Type: Part-Time | 15–20 hours per week

Schedule: Monday–Friday during the school year, with core availability from approximately 2:00–5:00 PM. Tuesdays require availability until approximately 6:30 PM.

Compensation: $33–$37/hour based on experience | Mileage reimbursement for work related tasks

• Reliable personal vehicle and experienced driver who is comfortable driving in New England winter conditions
• Maintain a smoke-free environment
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Comfortable with dogs
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred

About Our Family

We are an active family of four based in West Newton with two teenage daughters and a small, friendly Cavapoochon. Both parents have demanding professional careers that include frequent travel, and our daughters maintain full school and extracurricular schedules, particularly dance, where they spend most of their weekly free time training across multiple styles.

Our family embraces the New England seasons. During the school year, life revolves around school, dance, work, travel, and keeping everyone moving in the right direction. Weekends and holidays often take us to Vermont or the North Shore, while much of the summer is spent on the North Shore and traveling.

We're looking for someone who can become a reliable part of our family team and take ownership of the day-to-day details that create unnecessary mental noise. As our daughters are increasingly independent, the role is centered around transportation for our family activities, household management, meal support, errands, organization, and keeping family logistics moving smoothly.

We currently have professional cleaning weekly, so we're not looking for a housekeeper. Instead, we need someone who can see the bigger picture, keep the household moving forward between cleanings, and confidently own the afternoon rhythm.

Ultimately, success to us means trust and longevity: knowing the girls are where they need to be, the dog is cared for, food is ready, household details are handled, and we don't have to think twice about whether something has been taken care of. We are seeking a long term partner to be a supportive arm to our family.

You can keep up with the details without adding more mental load for the parents. You can read the room, work independently, and become an extra set of trusted eyes and ears for the household.

With the girls, you're warm, approachable, and supportive, but you also have a backbone. You aren't there to do everything for them or become an on-demand assistant. You can hold healthy boundaries, reinforce the parents' expectations, and help the girls become increasingly responsible for their own schedules, belongings, and commitments. High emotional intelligence and the ability to connect while still fostering independence will go a long way in this home.

• German language skills are a welcome bonus, but not required

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

• Pick up two teenage daughters from school and provide reliable transportation to dance and other after-school activities
• Help ensure the girls have the meals, snacks, dance gear, and other items needed for their afternoon and evening schedules
• Pack and organize dance bags and help keep frequently used activity items ready to go
• Support independence while providing appropriate structure and accountability
• Manage changing school and activity logistics using the family's shared Google Calendars
• Provide occasional transportation support related to family schedules and seasonal needs

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Keep kitchen counters, dining areas, mudroom, and other shared spaces tidy and reset throughout the week
• Maintain household systems and recurring checklists
• Support seasonal clothing and bedding swaps
• Assist with decluttering, household organization, and donation projects
• Complete occasional household projects based on priorities and available time
• Water indoor plants and assist with simple household upkeep such as recharging lights or replacing batteries as needed

Meal Support

• Prepare healthy, whole-food-based snacks and dinners for the children
• Grocery shop and keep appropriate ingredients stocked
• Work within the family's preferences, whether preparing meals fresh or batch-prepping
• Keep the kitchen tidy and reset following meal preparation
• Periodically refresh the refrigerator and remove expired items

Inventory & Errands

• Monitor and restock pantry, refrigerator, household, and pet supplies
• Maintain shared grocery and household supply lists
• Handle returns, dry cleaning, household pickups, and miscellaneous errands
• Assist with household orders and recurring purchases
• Manage mail, packages, and breakdown of boxes as needed

Laundry & Linens

• Keep household laundry moving consistently, with particular attention to frequently needed dance clothing
• Wash and fold clothing, leaving family members' items organized for them to put away
• Assist with washing sheets and towels as needed
• Maintain an organized and well-stocked laundry area

Pet Care

• Walk and feed the family's small, friendly Cavapoochon as needed during working hours
• Coordinate recurring grooming and other pet appointments
• Provide occasional seasonal transportation for the dog based on the family's schedule

Administrative & Household Support

• Manage shared household task and inventory systems
• Schedule recurring appointments such as orthodontist visits, dog grooming, and other family needs
• Track household needs and proactively communicate upcoming priorities
• Provide concise updates through the family's preferred communication system
• Assist with additional administrative or household projects based on skill set and availability
