OB Hospitalist Locums - Ketchikan, Alaska Candidate Snapshot Start: ASAP Coverage: Ongoing; extension expected Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital Trauma Level: Adult IV Beds: 25 total, including 5 Labor & Delivery beds Setting: Inpatient and outpatient/clinic setting within the same building Patient Population: Primarily adults, with some pediatric and geriatric patients Average Clinic Volume: Approximately 10 patients per day Average L&D Volume: 0-2 patients per day EMR: Epic Practice: Full-scope General OB/GYN Solo Coverage: No. A second OB/GYN is always on call 24/7. Availability / Schedule Clinic: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Weekday Call: Night call Monday-Friday Weekend Call: 24-hour call Saturday and Sunday Weekday Availability: While in clinic, physician must remain available to assist in the hospital for emergencies between patients. This effectively creates 24-hour availability Monday-Friday. Call Requirement: Approximately 7 days of first- or second-call coverage Call Blocks: Typically 2-3 consecutive days of call with a clinic day in between Call Coverage: 24-hour call for Labor & Delivery and Emergency Department Shift Structure: Standard 8-hour clinic shifts plus 24-hour call shifts Coverage Need: Gap coverage with ongoing coverage anticipatedLicensure Alaska Medical License: Not currently required to submit License Requirement: Candidate must be able and willing to move quickly through the Alaska licensing application process and follow up promptly. Certifications Board Certification: Obstetrics/Gynecology - BC required BLS: Required Experience Requirements OB/GYN Experience: Full-scope General OB/GYN Case Logs: 24 months of case logs required Hospital Privileges: Required Inpatient/Outpatient: Must be comfortable working in both settings Clinical Responsibilities General OB/GYN Labor & Delivery coverage Emergency Department coverage Clinic Inpatient rounding Admissions Hospital consultations Emergency assistance while in clinic Full-scope OB/GYN procedures Surgical assistance when another hand or First Assist is needed Scheduled Surgeries: No expectation for regularly scheduled surgeries unless additional surgical assistance or First Assist coverage is needed.
