Job Overview

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine’s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day.

A full-time Business Manager position is available in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. This provides financial, accounting, analytical, and project support for departmental business operations across the tripartite (clinical, research, and education) mission of the Department and UC College of Medicine. The role is responsible for routine financial administration, while also supporting budget monitoring, research-related financial activity, recruitment and residency account tracking, compensation file maintenance, and other special projects. The position will report to the Executive Director of Business and Administration and partner with departmental leadership and business office stakeholders to identify and resolve budget variances, ensure expenses are charged appropriately, support process improvement, provide timely financial analysis and reporting, and support faculty and staff across business functions.

Essential Functions

• Manage routine financial and accounting tasks, including invoice coding, monthly general ledger review, reclasses, staff payroll review, monthly accounts payable accruals, malpractice roster saving and review, and other recurring business office processes.
• Review expenses posted to general ledger accounts and cost centers to identify charges that were not budgeted, determine the appropriate funding source, and initiate reclasses when needed, including reclassing charges to appropriate ambulatory, clinic, research, grant, clinical trial, or business office accounts.
• Participate in analytics, research support, and special project work that strengthens departmental financial planning, reporting, operational decision-making, and process improvement.
• Lead faculty compensation, administered in OPMS system and payroll. This includes month end and mid-month compensation as applicable, and compensation change forms for new and existing faculty,
• Develop and maintain financial tracking tools and analyses, including monthly GL tracking, year-to-date budget monitoring, invoice history tracking, payroll allocations, and professional development account tracking.
• Provide financial and administrative support for recruitment, residency, and academic activities, including faculty and fellow recruitment tracking, all budgeted residency accounts, Grand Rounds expenses, speaker payments, and CME invoices.
• Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
• Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

• Three (3) years of financial and administrative experience
