Employment Type: W2 1 Year Contract with Possibility for Extensions
Pay Rate: $23.00–$25.00/hour (determined by experience, paid weekly)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Work Model: 100% Onsite

Role Overview

BEPC is actively seeking a Logistics Coordinator to support our client's distribution and transportation operations in Norwood, OH. This position is responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipments, preparing shipping documentation, working with freight forwarders and customers, and supporting the efficient movement of products in accordance with applicable transportation regulations.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, or supply chain operations and an understanding of shipping requirements for hazardous goods.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate domestic and international shipments to support timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Serve as a liaison between freight forwarders, freight brokers, customers, customer service representatives, and distribution teams.
• Obtain, prepare, review, and submit required documentation for domestic and international shipment bookings.
• Obtain bookings with steamship lines, freight forwarders, and consolidators.
• Coordinate shipment consolidations to improve transportation efficiency and control costs.
• Process customer orders within the distribution center and route shipments appropriately.
• Support shipping activities in accordance with DOT, IATA, IMDG, and applicable transportation regulations.
• Prepare and present shipping documentation to customers and applicable shipping authorities.
• Provide required documentation for multi-hazard-class chemical shipments.
• Troubleshoot lost, delayed, or damaged shipments and respond to customer questions or concerns.
• Analyze transportation and logistics data and recommend improvements to service levels, rates, and shipping processes.
• Research and recommend transportation options for hazardous material shipments.
• Coordinate consolidation of shipments to affiliate locations.
• Maintain organized electronic and paper shipping documentation.
• Support administrative and warehouse supply management, including ordering supplies and maintaining appropriate replenishment levels.
• Work closely with internal departments to expedite shipments and maintain a high level of customer service.
• Follow applicable Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
• Maintain reliable attendance and adherence to the assigned work schedule.
• Perform additional logistics and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or HSED required.
• Approximately 1–3 years of related experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, supply chain, distribution, or a similar field.
• Two years of previous Logistics/Warehousing/Supply Chain experience is preferred.
• Understanding of domestic and international shipping requirements.
• Familiarity with dangerous goods transportation requirements.
• Knowledge of DOT, IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR regulations is highly desirable.
• Experience coordinating with freight forwarders, carriers, brokers, and customers.
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate shipping documentation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot transportation issues and determine when escalation is required.
• Ability to access available information and make appropriate independent decisions within the scope of the position.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of internal staff as well as external customers and vendors.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, scanners, and copiers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hazardous material shipping certification for air, sea, and/or 49 CFR.
• Previous experience preparing documentation for hazardous or multi-hazard-class shipments.
• Experience coordinating international freight and ocean shipments.
• Experience working with steamship lines, freight forwarders, consolidators, or freight brokers.
• Knowledge of Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
• Experience within a distribution center or warehouse environment.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This position operates in both office and distribution/warehouse environments. Candidates may occasionally work near moving mechanical equipment and may be required to wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, protective clothing, or other required equipment.

When supporting warehouse or distribution activities, candidates may be required to:

• Sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Reach, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or perform similar physical movements.
• Remain on their feet for up to eight hours when required.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds unassisted.
• Move items weighing more than 60 pounds with assistance.
• Regularly use computers, monitors, phones, and other office equipment.
