Job Description: The Department of Educational Policy & Leadership is dedicatedto enhancing the understanding and practice of educationalleadership and policy at all levels of the education system, cradle-to-career. We advance this mission through our programs of teaching, research, and engagement with practitioners and scholarsin the field. The Department of Educational Policy & Leadership (EPL) in theSchool of Education at the University at Albany, State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure-track AssistantProfessor in Higher Education. We seek a scholar whose research andteaching focus on Higher Education. Particular interest exists incandidates whose work draws upon organizational theory to advanceunderstanding of postsecondary institutions, systems, leadership,and change, including relationships with PK-12 settings. We also welcome applicants whose scholarship employs other theoretical and methodological approaches that contribute to the study of HigherEducation. We welcome applicants from a broad range of scholarly traditionsand methodological approaches whose work contributes to the studyof Higher Education. The successful candidate may examine issuesrelated to higher education organizations, leadership, governance,policy, student experiences, student outcomes, institutionaleffectiveness, workforce development, emerging technologies, K-12schooling, or other important dimensions of postsecondaryeducation. We seek applicants whose scholarship advances knowledgeof Higher Education and prepare the next generation of scholars andleaders in the field. The successful candidate will join a department whose facultyconduct research and prepare scholar-leaders across educationalsettings ranging from pre-K through higher education with aprominent record in globally engaged research, service andteaching. Responsibilities include conducting an active program ofresearch and scholarship in Higher Education; seeking externalfunding support consistent with the candidate's research agenda andcareer stage; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in HigherEducation and Educational Policy & Leadership and an AAQEPAccredited Leadership program; advising master's and doctoralstudents; serving on dissertation committees; contributing tostudent recruitment and program development activities; fosteringconnections with higher education institutions and professionalorganizations; and providing service to the department, school,university, and profession. The successful candidate willcontribute to courses in Higher Education and departmental core,and research-methods courses consistent with their expertise. Minimum Qualifications: An earned doctorate degree from a college or Universityaccredited by the US Department of Education or an internationallyrecognized accrediting organization by August 20, 2027. A doctoratein Higher Education is one means of demonstrating such preparation;however, applicants holding doctorates in other fields who canprovide evidence of sustained research, teaching, service, and/orprofessional work focused on Higher Education are stronglyencouraged to apply. Applicants who are ABD will be considered ifall degree requirements are expected to be completed prior to thestart of the appointment. Preparation and expertise in Higher Education demonstratedthrough research, teaching, professional practice, scholarlytraining, or a combination thereof. Evidence (or strong potential) of scholarly productivity and aclear research agenda in Higher Education, with capacity to developand sustain an active program of research appropriate to careerstage. Evidence of commitment to effective teaching and mentoringstudents in higher education settings, including through graduateinstruction, teaching assistantships, instructor-of-recordexperience, advising, mentoring, or comparable educationalexperiences, consistent with departmental core courses. Demonstrated research productivity, with a research agenda thatis aligned with external funding opportunities and evidence of orstrong potential for obtaining external funding commensurate withthe candidate's career stage in Higher Education. Preferred Qualifications: Scholarship, professional experience, dissertation research, orother scholarly engagement addressing significant issues,organizations, policies, or practices in Higher Education. Experience with, or strong potential to contribute tointerdisciplinary collaboration through scholarship, service,and/or teaching.
